Paperless-ngx

Paperless-ngx turns piles of scanned paperwork into a searchable digital archive. It runs OCR on uploads so the text becomes readable, then lets you file documents by correspondent, document type and tag, apply rules that rename and file incoming files automatically, and search everything by content or metadata.

People use it for invoices, contracts, receipts and medical paperwork, often alongside a scanner that drops files straight into a watched folder, and it supports common document-ingestion workflows.

Keeping the archive on your own storage means private documents stay there, there is no per-document cloud cost, and the original files plus database are yours to back up and restore.
