n8n is a workflow automation tool built around a canvas of nodes, where each node is a trigger or an action and the wires between them describe the logic. It handles schedules, webhooks, HTTP requests, spreadsheets, databases, email, chat platforms and AI steps, and any node can contain JavaScript or Python when the built-in options fall short.

Common uses include syncing records between systems, enriching inbound form data before it reaches a CRM, and producing scheduled reports without hand-running scripts.

Hosted on your own server, the records passing between your systems are never copied into someone else's cloud, there is no per-seat billing to plan around, and an export of the database makes each workflow and every past run recoverable.
