FreshRSS is a lightweight RSS and Atom reader that collects feed updates into a single reading interface, so you can follow many sources without visiting each site. It supports filtering rules, categories and tags, starred and unread states, a keyboard driven interface, and a Google Reader compatible API, which lets you pair it with mobile apps and other tools.

People use it to follow blogs, news sites, and release announcements in one place, often on a small home server or NAS.
