Backrest

A web interface and orchestrator that wraps the restic command-line client so you can create repositories, schedule snapshots, browse what was captured and restore files from a browser. It imports existing restic repositories, runs cron-driven backup plans with forget and prune policies, sends notifications through Slack, Discord, Gotify and other channels, and executes hooks before and after each run.

It suits administrators of a NAS or home lab who want restic capabilities without hand-written scripts, and teams that must recover a single file quickly during an incident.

Keeping it on your own server means snapshot metadata and credentials stay on hardware you control, costs nothing per machine or repository, and can be backed up alongside the data it protects.
